Since I measured big at my 28 week appointment on Tuesday they had me come in for an ultrasound.
We discovered that Peanut is a big boy already. He should be about 2 ½ pounds at this point and he was measuring approximately 3 pounds 9 ounces. Our doctor said at this point if I make it to 40 weeks he will be about 9 ½ pounds.
Unfortunately she still wants me to take a 3 hour glucose test even though I passed the first once. She said sometimes it can come in as false positives and they want to be sure that diabetes is not what is triggering Peanut being big. Based on my history, she thinks I’m just carrying a big baby. I am scheduled for my test in 2 weeks on November 4. We will get some more answers then.
I am happy he is big and healthy though. It was so good to see him again. I can’t believe how big he has gotten. I’m not looking forward to the 3 hour test but I know Peanut is worth it and I will do whatever to make sure he is healthy and brought into this world safely.

I'm sorry you have to take that 3 hour test! It sounds like you DO have a big boy in there - did they tell you a percentile? Anyway, I hope everything comes back fine with your gestational diabetes test. It makes me wonder if I should ask if I need to do the 3 hour test too!
ReplyDeleteYou could just have a football player on your hands LOL. Hoping that all goes well with the 3 hour test.
ReplyDeleteFunny I was just reading up on gestational diabetes since my 1-hour test is in 3 weeks! It sounds like even if it was GD causing this that catching it now totally lessens the probability of problems during delivery. And yeah, some ladies just do have big babies! :) Hoping the 3-hour test goes well!
ReplyDeleteI have large babies too! And I have never been diabetic. My first boy was 8lbs 15 oz. The second ~ ready for this? ~ was 10 lb 13 oz (and I had him naturally! My girl was 8lb 2oz, and Amelia was my smallest at 7lb 12 oz.
ReplyDeleteSo, keep your chin up. I have to go in for my first glucose test this next week and I am not looking forward to it. Big boys or not, they are all wonderful!
sorry you have to take the yucky 3 hr test but like you said, better to find out that all is good with Peanut and you :) A lot of my gf's lately have been popping out rather large sized babies and none of them had GD - I'm wondering if it's just our diet and our environment these days?
ReplyDeleteSo glad for the big healthy baby :) The 3 hour test is NOT fun but I survived it and I HATE needles. Take something to do LOL it's a lot of sitting - when I got it done I took a portable dvd player and watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang :) <3
