Taking It All In

I’m still trying to take it all in that our baby is healthy. We put one of the ultrasound photos on the fridge. Maybe looking at it more will make it more real.

Yesterday was probably my worse day of feeling sick (which I’m thankful for though looking forward to the 2nd trimester). And I’m so exhausted. I woke up a lot last night but when I was sleeping I slept hard.

We expanded our news and told our immediate family (all parents and siblings). It felt good to share it but at the same time it scared me. I still have in my mind that I can lose this baby. I know nothing is every definite until this baby is born. I remember when Liam was born I breathed a sigh of relief. I will do the same for this baby.

I’m still eating every two hours and honestly can say I’m sick of eating. It gets old. I’ve been really trying to eat healthy. My morning snack consists of raisins and yogurt. My afternoon snack consists of strawberries/blueberries with cottage cheese and sometimes green beans. I’m really craving salty stuff this time around, in particular chips. With Liam I was really into the sweets. Though a bowl of vanilla ice cream has really been hitting the spot some nights!

I’ve decided it’s time to take the belly band out (though I haven’t quite yet). My pants in the afternoon are getting really tight. I’ve opted for a rubber band I found at work to use for now. Maybe taking out the belly band will make it more real for me. Sometimes I feel like I’m dreaming again. I felt the same way when we discovered Liam was growing early on in my pregnancy.

My hubby and I are working on a nickname for him/her until this baby is born. Of course “Peanut” was Liam so no using that again. We used “Nugget” for Grace. I still love that name. I have thought of using it again to carry on her legacy and be a reminder of her but then at the same time I don’t want to take that name away from her. We will probably find another one. I know it helped a lot when talking about the baby instead of saying him/her all the time. Stay tuned for a name soon!

Our Baby is Perfect!

I’m still in shock. For some reason it still doesn’t feel real. Our little one was measuring exactly on schedule (8w6d) and had a heart rate of 176 bpm. Everything checked out as perfectly as can be expected. Our chances of miscarriage at this point are 5%.

I’m so thankful right now. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts as these past few weeks haven’t been easy.

For today, I’m thankful for this precious little person growing inside me. I hope he/she knows how much they are already loved.

There is No More Room

On my ring that is…

I had a ring made with two birthstones, one for July to represent Nathaniel and one for December to represent Grace. I had the ring made before we found out we were pregnant with Liam. I continue to wear it every day and it is a reminder/representation of my two babies not here on earth.

When we found out we were pregnant with Liam, I remember my husband and I were scared. I told him there isn’t any way we will lose this baby as there is no more room on my ring. There are two stones and that is all there will be.

I’m thinking that way again this round. My ring can’t hold anymore stones. It was only made for two. This precious baby growing inside will makes its way into this world healthy and strong.

I must believe

8 Weeks

I made it through another week. Time is moving so slowly it seems like.

I’m trying to take one day at a time though it can be really hard. I want to know this baby is ok. I want to love this baby but am scared. I’m so afraid to get attached and then get my heartbroken. I haven’t talked to this baby much yet (I remember I did a lot with Liam). I feel like a horrible mother for doing so. But at the same time, I feel if I do, I’m going to be even more connected to this little person. And then the thought of potentially losing him/her? I can’t do it. I really want to be positive. I really do. But it’s hard to do so after what we’ve been through.

If this baby sticks, it’s our last. We are done at two. Remembering that makes me want to appreciate every second of this pregnancy. But it’s so hard when you don’t know if this baby is ok or not.

We told my husband’s mother on Friday that we are pregnant. That was another big step for us. Telling anyone at this point is a big step (and to date only 4 people know, and of course all you blogging ladies).

On a very positive note, I still feel gross. It’s all day kind feeling. Still haven’t gotten sick yet though. I’m still eating every few hours and trying to manage this horrible taste in my mouth. I feel like my belly is growing already too. From what I’ve heard you show a lot faster the second time around. I’ve had a little cramping here and there which I’m taking as my uterus expanding. I’m praying all of these are positive signs.

Less than a week until we see this little person. I’m hoping at that point I can start to breathe a little bit.

2 Weeks from Today

In two weeks we get to see our little baby. I pray this baby is healthy. I had a dream last night that we went for our first ultrasound with the doctor we adore, and the baby was perfect. I only hope that dream comes true in two weeks.

I’m still feeling yucky. I haven’t gotten sick yet but just feel off. I have to eat every 2 hours or I think I might throw up. I have stocked up on pretzels and ginger snaps at work to snack on throughout the day. My sense of smell is out of control. I bought some gum and put it in my purse. As soon as I open my purse that’s all I can smell and it turns my stomach. I never though the smell of gum would gross me out.

Last night Liam and I shared a Boca burger with chips for dinner while my husband was playing basketball. The Boca burger went down really well and was quite yummy. Liam likes to take his time eating so I sat there for a while after I had finished my meal. Well, all of a sudden the smell of the ketchup made me not feel so hot. And I had just eaten it earlier and was fine. This little person is doing some pretty interesting things to me but it’s all so well worth it.

Two weeks. I can get through it. I have to. Waiting is so incredibly hard when you have no clue if your baby is ok inside. Based on how I’m feeling, I have to believe everything is ok.

6 Weeks

That seems to be the time when I start feeling yucky. I’ve been so nervous lately about this pregnancy. I know my body can do it (I have a healthy little boy) but it’s still scary. Sunday morning I woke up and was sure this pregnancy was doomed. I hadn’t been having enough symptoms. I let my mind go there. I hate what my miscarriages have done to my mental state while pregnant.

On Tuesday I just started to feel a little more off. My belly was upset but not to the point of needing to get sick. Yesterday it got worse (exactly the 6 week mark). This morning I thought I might get sick. I hate feeling sick but I know it’s all for something amazing. I was sitting at our dining room table this morning while Liam was eating breakfast. My stomach was so upset. But then I stared at my son, this amazing little boy that grew in my belly. He is perfect. And I have to have hope that being sick is going to allow me to bring another perfect little person into this world.

I hope what I’m feeling continues, even though it’s no fun. The thought of some foods these past few days makes me sick. My sense of smell has really heightened the past 2 days. I pray this little baby is growing and getting stronger every day.

Today Marks 5 Weeks

I’m still in shock but am thankful today for being pregnant.

I’m still feeling good for the most part which freaks me out. I want to feel sick. With Liam I didn’t feel sick till around 5 ½ weeks so I’m remaining positive. My belly is still gurgling a lot and my boobs hurt. I’m trying to look at the small things. I’ve been reading a lot that is normal to show a lot earlier in your second pregnancy. This week I have been feeling fat in everything.

I’m counting down the days until we can see our little person. It can’t get here soon enough. Thankfully I’ve been busy with a sick kid at home last week so I haven’t thought about it that much. I’m so scared to get attached to this baby.

One day at a time. That’s all I can do right now.
